I CANNOT BELIEVE I’M RUNNING THE LONDON MARATHON!
I’m so excited/nervous/ terrified to be running the London Marathon in 2027! I only started running properly in January of this year, after a medication change meant I was able to do things I preciously couldn’t even imagine.
Running the london marathon means more to me than the medal at the end. It is symbolic of how far I’ve come in my asthma journey and an achievement 6 year old me simply would not believe. Being asthmatic has always been a big part of my identity, but it's often been a reason for me not to do things. I’m excited for it to be proof I can do hard things, and overcome the challenge that asthma induced exercise has always presented.
I’m choosing to run for Asthma and Lung UK as this has been a charity I have benefited from for many, many years. It is a charity both myself and my medical team have utilised and their work is really incredible.
All donations, no matter how big or small, go towards vital lung research which allows for advances in respiratory care. The inhaler regime I’m on now did not exist before 2024 and that medication has not only allowed me to start running, but has also kept me safe, out of hospital, and frankly, alive.
