I’m running the London Marathon 2026 to fight for lung health!
This year I’ll be running the London Marathon for Team Breathe.
Many of you will know my daughter, Lucy. Over the years she has been admitted to hospital several times after struggling with low oxygen levels after a virus she just couldn’t shift. Each stay has been a few days at a time and each time she has been met with the most incredible care.
We have been so fortunate to be supported by outstanding doctors, nurses and specialists who have looked after Lucy with such skill, kindness and patience. Even now, Lucy remains under monitoring, and we are endlessly grateful to everyone who has helped her (and us) along the way.
I won’t sugar-coat it: this is going to be a tough one. I’ve been plagued with injuries in recent years, (most recently a torn hamstring) and the last time I ran a marathon I was child-free, had endless time to train, and was basically a spring chicken who thought stretching could be optional for me despite being a PE teacher! Fast forward to now… things look a little different!
But that’s exactly why this run means so much. I am so determined to do this! Running the London Marathon feels like a small way of saying thank you, and to give something back to such a fantastic charity.

I'm running the London Marathon 2026 for Asthma + Lung UK, the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.
