I’m running the London Marathon 2026 to fight for lung health!
Six years ago I was diagnosed with COPD, an incurable lung disease, which was a bit of a shock as I was marathon training at the time.
My condition will never improve, but it can be managed with medication & keeping fit.
Whilst I'm asymptomatic in everyday life, regaining and keeping my fitness following the pandemic has been a real challenge.
So I'm running the 2026 London marathon to support others with similar lung conditions, who are less fortunate than me, and to prove to myself that I can still run a marathon.
Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a lung condition. I want to make a difference. I'm running the London Marathon 2026 for Asthma + Lung UK, the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.
Just £24 can support a researcher at the start of their career to carry out an hour of lung health research to ensure we attract and keep the best scientific minds to focus on lung disease.
Good luck Dom!
