I’m running the London Marathon 2026 for Asthma & Lung UK

I have asthma and so do a few of my family. Running has helped me improve my lung health, although at times during flare ups asthma has also stopped me exercising for periods. I'm determined not to let it get in the way and in 2026 I'll be running the London Marathon.

Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a lung condition. I want to make a difference. I'm running for Asthma + Lung UK, the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.

Just £22 allows one of Asthma + Lung UK's nurses to answer a call on the Helpline, offering potentially lifesaving advice. I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make!

Half way there!

Saturday 17th Jan
Today I ran my first half marathon for 11 years! 

It was a fairly flat one (except for the Bingley Five Rise section - 5 locks in a row accompanied by a super steep hill🤪).

I'm not gonna lie, the last couple of miles were hard. 

I've had a slow couple of months because of colds, virus and an asthma flare up. 

But it's done! Now to focus on a more concrete running plan and build up the miles.

Just a little update on progress...

Yesterday I ran the 'It's Grim Up North Christmas Cracker' 10 Mile run. After a month of colds, a chesty cough and an asthma flare up (standard stuff in the winter!) it was nice to feel physically good and finish with a smile :) 

Plus a Brucey bonus: I got a very big medal (I do love a bit of running bling!)

This was my longest run for 10 years and as it went well I am now thinking forward to a half marathon in January sometime... 😁
