My Personal Reason

When I was young, my uncle died at just 24 from cystic fibrosis—a devastating lung condition. He was full of life and dreams, but his time was cut tragically short. I know firsthand how cruel lung disease can be, and how it can steal away loved ones far too soon. Running this marathon is my way of honouring his memory and helping others facing similar battles.

Why Asthma + Lung UK?

• 1 in 5 people in the UK will develop a lung condition in their lifetime.

• 5.4 million people in the UK live with asthma.

• Lung disease is now the third most common cause of death in the UK, costing the NHS over £9 billion every year.

• Air pollution alone is linked to 43,000 early deaths each year in the UK.

• People with lung conditions are often overlooked and don’t always get the care or early diagnosis they need.

Asthma + Lung UK is fighting to change this. They fund research, campaign for cleaner air, provide expert advice, and run support groups for anyone affected by lung conditions. In 2024 alone, they invested £3.5 million in research and supported 20,000 people through their helpline.
