London Marathon 2026

My Achievements

My Updates

I did it!!

Monday 27th Apr
What an amazing experience. It was hot and tough and I had a lot of knee pain from mile 17, but I am so proud to have got to the end. Thank you for all your support it’s been amazing and together we have raised over £3000. THANK YOU.  I have posted some pictures below.

Reminding myself why I’m doing this!

Sunday 19th Apr
As the nerves accelerate I thought I’d take a moment to repost why I’m doing this!

I am proud to be runnng the London Marathon 2026 in memory of my dad and brother, and raising funds for this amazing charity and the work they do.

I have a genetic lung condition called Alpha-1 Anti Trypsin deficiency. This means that I do not produce enough of the necessary protein to protect my lungs from anything harmful in the atmosphere, which leads to irreparable damage. This means that breathing is something I have to think about.

My dad died from this condition aged 54 when I was 11 years old, and although I do not have the condition to the severity that he did, my lungs are damaged and at the age of 50 I was told that I had the lungs of a 68 years old. My brother died of lung cancer when he was 58.

Support on the NHS in my experience is patchy and preventative care is not an option, with lung capacity and lung health tests now withdrawn and the annual check up is now a 4 question text message.

Support for me has come from Asthma & Lung UK who work very hard to raise awareness and lobby the government for better support and treatment on the NHS for people with lung conditions.

If you can, please sponsor me by donating, whatever you are able. I really appreciate your support.

One week to go 😮

Saturday 18th Apr
Well I can’t really believe I am almost there. I swing between being excited to petrified. After months of training, I’m tired and most things hurt after a small run! 8 miles yesterday, remembering why I’m running the marathon and feeling privileged that I can when so many people can’t, due to illnesses and conditions that stop them. Some lovely gifts from a friend yesterday boosted me massively 💜

It’s getting very real!

Friday 3rd Apr
Today I received my email with my start place, time and bib number so it’s all feeling more real now! Exciting and scary 😬

Feeling so thankful 💜

Wednesday 1st Apr
A massive thank you to everyone who has donated taking me over the £2000 milestone. You are amazing 🤩

Getting there

Wednesday 1st Apr
The lurgy is hanging around, but did manage 4 miles yesterday.. a rest day today and a 30-45 minute run tomorrow and then fingers crossed for 18 miles on Saturday!

No running today 🤧🤧🤧

Saturday 28th Mar
Picked up the lurgy so no running for me this weekend. Twenty miles last weekend was an absolute killer, but got it done. Managed some speed and hills work before I was struck down. Fingers crossed I won’t be out for too long!

19 miles in the bag!

Monday 9th Mar
A busy 6 weeks since my last update. Speed work has been knocked on the head due to an ongoing hamstring niggle, but getting there with the miles. My weekly mileage last week was 35, with my long run on Saturday being 19 miles, the longest distance I have completed. Feeling very proud of this achievement and for having the opportunity to take part in the marathon in memory of my dad and brother. 💜

Canterbury 10 mile race

Sunday 25th Jan
Since my last post I’ve been plodding on with training, picked up a few colds along the way so keeping on track but not going too mad. Today was the Canterbury 10 miler. I knocked 6 mins off last year earning a PB 🔔, so very happy. A quiet week this week and then into the full marathon training plan 👍🏻

Superhero 10k

Sunday 3rd Aug
After a spectacular fall a couple of weeks ago at mile 5 of a half marathon and having to pull out at mile 7, I am super happy to have completed this race today. It was hard work but happy with my time of 1:06:46.. puts me back on track 🦹‍♀️🦸‍♀️.. please scroll down for my story and why I’m running for Team Breath 💜
