London Marathon 2027

I’m running the London Marathon in the fight for breath

Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a lung condition. I want to make a difference. I'm running the London Marathon for Asthma + Lung UK, the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.

Just £24 can support a researcher at the start of their career to carry out an hour of lung health research to ensure we attract and keep the best scientific minds to focus on lung disease.

My Reason Why

Tuesday 28th Apr
Growing up with asthma was just normal, the majority of my family has it. Carrying my inhaler to anything remotely physical became ordinary as a kid. Yet it always ended in a battle of frustration with my body. This only worsened when I was diagnosed with pectus excavatum, a chest deformity, where the sternum grows inwards. In severe cases like mine, the sternum presses onto the lungs, reducing lung capacity. Although different to asthma, it only worsens the effects of it.

Despite learning to deal with the effects of this respiratory condition, millions of individuals are impacted daily. For a lot of people, breathing is automatic, but for those with these conditions, it shapes their life, how they move, how safe they feel in certain environments and how they plan their day. My Nan is one of those people, she has Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) which causes severe breathing difficulties, this severe lung disease has left her in intensive care previously and means she is constantly assisted in every day tasks. This is why this charity matters, they support people in need like my Nan, they fund the research needed for millions of struggling individuals and campaign for cleaner air and better treatment.

I chose to do this race because I think theirs something symbolic to face the thing that has deeply affected you and your family head on and push through for myself and those who can’t. With so many people watching and supporting, this large movement only raises the awareness surrounding this charity and hope for those who struggle with this issue. I’m doing this race to let people know how hard it is to catch a breath for some and hopefully making that struggle a little lighter in the near future.

I would love if you guys could donate to this page to help the people struggling catch a breath!!
