Swim for Seward 🕊️ 🏊‍♀️

In memory of my great and wonderful friend Seward Alexio Ricks, and inspiration from the magnificent Maisie who is running the London marathon in 2026 in Sewards honour, starting on Monday 21st July, I will be swimming 21 miles, with each mile attributed to every year of his life, in 21 days. All donations, no matter how little or large they maybe, will be greatly appreciated and will go towards the amazing asthma and lung uk charity, the only charity in the UK which supports the 5.4 million people who suffer from asthma in this country.

Seward Alexio Ricks was cruelly taken away from us at just 21 years old, and every day, month and year of his passing has been the hardest times in the many people’s lives that he touched, even if they had only just met him or met him once, people always remember him as being the most beautiful and fine young man that he was. Not only did his infectious smile and booming laughter lit up any room he entered, he had the most beautiful singing voice I’ve heard, and one that still sings to me every day from above. His dancing was also something to behold, and anyone who saw it knew that the boy could certainly move his hips, strictly was just round the corner for my little dancer 🕺 I know that with every length and with every stroke, Seward will be right there next to me, urging me on like he always had done before.

We all take breathing for granted, and at times when we don’t even think about it, like when we are sleeping, However, every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a lung condition. Every pound I raise takes us closer to a world where everyone breathes clean air with healthy lungs. 1 in 5 people in the UK will at some point suffer from a lung condition in their life time, and your donations can help this wonderful charity help fund millions of people in this country who have to deal with awful lung conditions on a daily basis.

Just £24 could support a researcher at the start of their career to carry out an hour of lung health research to ensure we attract and keep the best scientific minds to focus on lung disease.
