I’m running The Great North Run in memory of my dad and the fight for breath!
This September, I will be embarking on The Great North Run for Asthma + Lung UK.
I'm running for Asthma + Lung UK this September in memory of my amazing dad, Peter Thomas. who sadly lost his fight in March 2024, with his COPD being a contributing factor. Despite his health conditions, he always found a way to crack a joke, make you smile and laugh and never let COPD get him down.
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a progressive lung condition that makes it hard to breathe, often caused by long-term exposure to harmful substances like cigarette smoke or air pollution. It includes conditions such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis. COPD affects around 1.4 million people in the UK, but many more are undiagnosed. It can seriously impact daily life and currently has no cure, but with the right support and treatment, symptoms can be managed.
