London Marathon 2026

I’m running the London Marathon 2026 to fight for lung health!

Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a lung condition.  I'm running the London Marathon 2025 for Asthma + Lung UK, the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe.

In 2012 my dad was diagnosed with COPD. Since then his condition has worsened and he has recently been informed that he has stage 5 COPD which is very severe COPD. This means that even the simplest of tasks such as walking from one room to another can be very difficult making him extremely breathless and receives regular care from our local respiratory team.

At the age of 4 I was diagnosed with asthma and growing up I would suffer from asthma attacks. Through medication and a great asthma team I have learnt to manage my asthma effectively but it can still have an impact on me depending on the weather and air pollution throughout the year.

1 in 5 of us will develop a lung condition during our lifetime. There's a new diagnosis every minute so we need to do all we can to help find a cure for them. Asthma + Lung UK who are the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.

Just £22 allows one of Asthma + Lung UK's nurses to answer a call on the Helpline, offering potentially lifesaving advice. I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make which will make a real difference to others like my dad and myself. Together we can fight lung disease.

Why Asthma + Lung UK

Sunday 7th Sep
Asthma + Lung UK is a really important charity for my family. As a child I was diagnosed with asthma and have lived with the condition for 30 years. I recently had my annual asthma review where I was informed that my as my asthma seems to be under control, they would like me to try a new inhaler. I am now using an AIR inhaler which I am to take when I have asthma conditions or if my asthma starts to feel worse.

Things for my dad and his COPD are unfortunately very different. My dad has severe COPD and he is currently part of a clinical trial testing a new medicine which is helping to manage his condition. Unfortunately though he still has difficulties with his breathing and is getting breathless even with the easiest of tasks such as walking from one room to another, or simply getting himself washed and dressed. It break our family’s heart to see the impact that COPD is having on my dad’s life.

The work that Asthma + Lung UK do is so important as they help to fund vital research such as that which my dad is involved with but this is only possible through donations. I am so grateful to everyone who has sponsored me so far as I train for the 2026 London Marathon. If you haven’t donated yet, please consider to do so as every donation is helping to change lives for those with lung conditions.

Back to running

Thursday 28th Aug
I’m not the fastest of runners and it’s been a few weeks since I’ve been running, so today I decided to go for a short 3mile run at the gym and completed it in 27mins 😁
