💜 Why I'm Running the London Marathon for Asthma + Lung UK
I was diagnosed with asthma as a child, and growing up, I was definitely not the sporty one. I was that kid trying to hide at the back on sports day, praying not to get picked and convincing my PE teacher to let me bunk off and play ping pong instead of athletics.
Fast forward to this year, and I decided to push myself by signing up for the Bristol 10k in May. Somewhere along the way, I realised I can do hard things too! Since then, I’ve caught the running bug & I’ve got a 25k lined up from Bath to Bristol in October, all training for the big one in April next year!
In April 2026, I’ll be running the London Marathon. And every step will be for Asthma + Lung UK, the UK charity fighting for everyone’s right to breathe.
As if just running the marathon wasn’t hard enough… I’ve only gone and set myself a goal of finishing it in under 5 hours!
Considering I’ve only got one official 10k race to my name (which I ran in a pretty slow 1 hour 15), this is going to be a huge challenge.
I wouldn’t even be able to run without the work this charity does. I need my inhaler on every single run, and it’s easy to forget how vital that little blue device is, or how many people don’t have the same access, support, or resources. Asthma + Lung UK help make movement, exercise, and everyday life possible for so many people.
Just £22 can fund a call to their Helpline, where trained nurses give potentially lifesaving advice. Every pound raised will help someone like me keep breathing through the tough moments - whether that’s running a marathon, climbing stairs, or simply getting through the day.
If you’re able to donate, thank you so much. And if not, a share goes a long way too. 💜
Good luck! You’ll smash it!
