London Marathon 2025

I’m running the London Marathon 2025 to fight for lung health!

I was diagnosed with asthma when I was a child and have suffered multiple attacks since that first diagnosis. Over the years I really struggled to get the condition under control.

When I moved to London I found I was having asthma attacks almost weekly. Waking up in the middle of the night unable to breathe. Struggling on the tube and having attacks during the working day. I was unwell for most of my first year in London. It was only after a consultation with an asthma nurse that I understood how bad my asthma was.

I reached out to Asthma UK after I suffered a severe attack at home.

I had always been able to control my attacks, however, during this one I was unable to reach for my inhaler and depended on my partner who didn’t know what to do.

Between advice of sticking a cold flannel over my mouth and sitting outside, I was going in and out of consciousness. Thankfully I was taken to hospital for treatment. It made me realise how important my asthma health was and sharing, with those close to me, how to treat an attack.

Asthma UK were incredible, they provided me with an asthma plan that I worked through with the nurse, and I was able to share this to family and friends. They supported me on trialling new medication that has helped prevent attacks and they gave me my confidence back.

Running has never been easy, asthma and cardio don’t exactly go hand in hand! Over the last 3 years I’ve really enjoyed my running journey and when I found out about the London classics, I couldn’t resist a massive medal!

The London Marathon

Triathalon spread over 1 year!

I managed to get round the 100 mile cycle route. Then Itaught myself to swim! So if all that stands between me and a shiny gold medal is 26.2 miles, let’s go for it!

I would be so grateful for any donation to this amazing cause. Every pound I’m able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.

My Achievements

My Updates

And the taper begins!

Sunday 6th Apr
Longest run of the plan complete, 19 miles! So fun doing a 6 mile warm up and then joining the start line for London Landmarks. Was certainly odd having less energy than everyone else at the start! But if the crowds are even half what will be on race day, it’s going to be fun!

Week 15 complete!

Saturday 22nd Feb
Longest run of the plan so far complete! 16 miles was not fun in any way and motivation or “runners high” was nowhere to be found! Slight ankle pain starting to appear but think she have a deload week next week!

Half way through the plan!

Saturday 1st Feb
Halfway through the London marathon plan and actually enjoying these longer runs! Amazing neighbour Michael came out for the half marathon run this week and very grateful for someone to chat to (and sneak a 2nd best time!). Fundraising event held this week as well which raised just under £1,000 - huge thank you to everyone!

Week 11 complete and the cold picked up!

Sunday 26th Jan
Week 11 complete and almost halfway through the plan! Tempo run this week felt harder than usual and all made sense on the long run when it was clear I’ve come down with the cold… few rest days with fluids and should be back to fitness! Fundraising event also taking place this week - raffle tickets still available for anyone interested!

Week 9 completed! 🥶

Saturday 11th Jan
Start of the cold runs! Spent more time avoiding ice and any injury that came with it this week! Super fun tempo and recovery session as always, followed by a long run with race day pace and some extra speeds thrown in! Finally caved and wore the leggings as don’t know how anyone is doing shorts when there is actual ice!

Week 8 done and dusted!

Saturday 4th Jan
Was very kindly gifted a deload week this week! 2 recovery runs and 1 *slightly* painful speed session to finish off the week. Cold weather has not been appreciated, but not even minus conditions will stop me running in the running shorts! Paces and distance are bumping back up for next week, so if anyone wants to join for the miles, let me know!

Week 7 complete!

Saturday 28th Dec
Week 7 is complete over the Christmas week! Long run this week was a fun tempo 8 miles with some race pace practice in! Plenty of Bella kisses when I got back! So grateful to everyone who has already donated. Please do share the page with anyone you feel may support 💕

Training update!

Thursday 19th Dec
Can’t believe we are on week 6 of the training plan already! Steadily getting there and we’ve only had 1 surgery and injury to deal with!
7.5 miles on the cards for this weekend and then a mini carb load over Christmas (what a dream!).
Offer of course still stands for anyone wanting to share some miles together!
