In memory of Robert Payne!
Our Dad was the absolute heart of our family, a genuinely kind, compassionate, and gentle soul. For over 50 years, he and our Mum shared a life of incredible companionship; their bond was the foundation our family was built upon, and his devotion to her was a testament to the man he was.
After a courageous and dignified five-year battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis, Dad sadly passed away. We watched as this cruel disease gradually took away the simple independence he cherished: the long walks with the dog and the quiet hours spent in his garage and sheds 'fixing things' for everyone. Most heartbreakingly, it stole his ability to be as active as he always was in the lives of his grandchildren. He lived for those moments—cheering from the sidelines at his grandsons’ football and cricket matches, and watching with pride as his granddaughter played football and performed her dancing.
Though the disease took much of his strength, it could never dim his spirit or the love he had for his family. They were his entire life. I am raising funds for Asthma and Lung UK to honour Dad’s legacy. I hope that by supporting this charity, I can help provide the same support and care to other families facing this difficult journey.
