London Marathon 2025

I’m running the London Marathon 2025 to fight for lung health!

Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a lung condition.

Just because a marathon alone is not enough I’ve set myself a double challenge. I’ll be starting with Swim Serpentine, a 2 mile open water swim in London’s serpentine lake on September 14th 2024. I’m certainly no natural swimmer, having to start building up from a single length of the the pool in May!

I’ve already begun training for the London Marathon 2025 and am smashing the 3 miles, so only 23.2 more miles to build up to!  Once the swim is over I’ll be stepping up the run training!

My good lady Lisa is also doing both of these challenges and we both have our own fundraising goals to achieve for Asthma & Lung UK. We chose this charity as Lisa has Asthma but won’t be beaten by it.

Any support you can give will mean more can be done to support those with chronic lung conditions and put pressure on the government to do more to achieve clean air goals!
Asthma + Lung UK is the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.

Just £22 allows one of Asthma + Lung UK's nurses to answer a call on the Helpline, offering potentially lifesaving advice. I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make!

My Updates

After 26.2 km

Tuesday 25th Feb
Tuesday 25th Feb
Everyone is always asking how the training has been going, so after today’s run I thought I would provide an update.
As a non runner (except for my school years almost 30 years ago) I was starting from scratch last summer. The first few runs were tough and I struggled to breathe, however I did soon start making great progress, running good times over the 5km and 10km distance. In December i tried the Milton Keynes Winter Half Marathon which didn’t go to plan. I ended up with severe knee and hip pain on both sides and had to walk the second half of it. The knee pain continued to cause problems when running through December and January, even on very short runs, but with a combination of rehab exercises, rest, taking it a bit easier on runs and some new insoles, I seem to have recovered.
Today I ran my longest run to date of over 26km in 2:12 and got not 1 but 5 PB’s (10k, 15k, 10m, 20k, and half marathon)
Feeling positive about the rest of my training, but well aware there’s a long way to go!
If you would like to support my fundraising, you can make any donation via this fundraising page.
Or if you would like to support my fundraising and be in with a chance of winning £400, £200, £100 or 2 x £50 in my 100 number competition, just message me with your number choice to take part!
Thanks you all for your support and continued encouragement!
