I’m running the London Marathon 2025 to fight for lung health! 🫁
Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a lung condition. I'm running the London Marathon 2025 for Asthma + Lung UK, and every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.
In 2013, I had surgery to remove a cancerous lung tumour, followed by adjuvant chemotherapy to reduce the risk of it returning.
I was fortunate to catch it relatively early - the only symptom I had was a cough that persisted for a few months and I never really smoked so it definitely came as a surprise. It was also misdiagnosed by the GP, so had to push for a scan (thanks mum!). One of A+LUK’s focuses is accelerating and improving diagnosis, as well as prevention through cleaner air and no smoking, which are critical when it comes to reducing the impact of lung disease.
Thankfully for me, it’s been clear for over 10 years now and I’ve been able to put what’s left of my lungs to good use by developing a penchant for running. In 2024 I’ve secured PBs in the 5k, 10k, 10 mile and half marathon distances so I’m delighted to be able to run my first ever marathon in London! 🏃🏻➡️🏃🏻➡️🏃🏻➡️
My aim is to get as close to 3 hours as possible, which I know is a bit ambitious for someone who's never run a marathon but might as well aim high. 🌟
