My story
Hi everyone.
I’m running the Great North Run 2026 for Asthma & Lung UK In honour of my beautiful mam, Linda McKenzie, who we lost on June 15th 2025.
My mam had always suffered with her asthma for as long as I can remember. In 2001, she had an asthma attack which resulted in her being on life support. She spent 11 days in the ICU in a coma. My family wasn’t sure she was going to live.
Growing up and watching my mam struggle, especially during the winter months, is something I will never forget.
Losing my mam was, and will always be, the worst day of my life. This is why I've decided to run for this charity, to know I can do one last thing for my mam and help others in similar situations.
Doing this run, all this training and the money I can raise for this charity is to show my support towards others who also struggle everyday due to asthma, lung and other respiratory conditions.
