17th Great North Run for our Dad
On September 13th we will be running the Great North Run for Asthma and Lung UK.
This is in memory of our dear Dad who died in April of a cruel lung disease, Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. This is a disease that has no known cause and no cure. He fought it bravely and stoically, with his tenacious Yorkshire/Polish spirit.
We would like to raise funds for Asthma and Lung UK as they are currently supporting 4 research streams to look at ways to identify and treat the disease early, to prevent the disease deteriorating and to identify proteins involved in causing the disease.
At every medical appointment Dad asked why did he have it, he could not be given an answer, but supporting this research maybe one day there will be an answer and a cure. Dad knew that one day this hopefully would be the case, and people diagnosed in the future would not have to suffer like he did.
As this is our 17th Great North Run, we shall be approaching with it our own tenacious Yorkshire/ Polish spirit, and we are very much looking forward to running down the tarmac from the city to the sea in memory of our wonderful Dad.
Many thanks from all his family xx
