Royal Parks Half Marathon 2025

I’m running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in the fight for breath!

Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with lung disease. I want to make a difference. I'm running the Royal Parks Half Marathon 2025 for Asthma + Lung UK, the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.

Just £22 allows one of Asthma + Lung UK's nurses to answer a call on the Helpline, offering potentially lifesaving advice. I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make!

If you could spare few minutes of your time, please read my blogs below to get know me, my motivation in doing this and my progress while training.

Stronger Than Ever: My Journey Back to Running After Motherhood and Trauma

Tuesday 29th Apr
Two years ago, I laced up my running shoes for the first time—not to compete, not to win medals, but simply to move, to breathe, to feel stronger in my body. What began as a casual commitment to fitness slowly became a meaningful part of my life. I had set my sights on running a half marathon in 2024. It was a personal goal, something that felt achievable yet significant.

But life had other plans.

In April 2024, I found out I was pregnant. A new chapter, one filled with anticipation and joy. But my journey into motherhood wasn’t smooth. My delivery came with some complications—complications that nearly cost me my life. In those moments, everything changed. My baby also had to spend time in the neonatal unit under close monitoring and treatment. That experience—the fear, the waiting, the uncertainty—etched itself into my heart forever.

The weeks that followed were filled with sleepless nights, healing, and learning how to be a mother while simultaneously recovering from a traumatic experience. It was one of the hardest seasons of my life.

Now, five months postpartum, I’ve returned to running. It’s not just about fitness anymore. It’s about reclaiming my body, my mind, and my strength. Running has become a form of therapy—a time for me to breathe, process, and feel like me again. Some runs are slow, some feel impossible, but each step reminds me that I’m still here. Alive. Strong. Grateful.

The half marathon is back on the calendar. Not just as a fitness goal, but as a symbol—of resilience, of healing, and of hope. Completing it will mean more than crossing a finish line; it will be a declaration that I survived, that I’ve grown, and that I’m coming back stronger than ever.

This time, I’m also running for a cause. After everything I’ve been through, being able to raise awareness or support for others feels deeply meaningful. Running to save lives, while celebrating the one I’ve been gifted again, brings everything full circle.

To anyone facing a tough season: your comeback is coming. It might not look perfect, and it won’t be easy, but it will be worth it.

About me

Tuesday 29th Apr
As a respiratory nurse in an acute ward setting for 4 years, I've seen first-hand how devastating lung disease can be. From supporting patients through breathlessness, flare-ups, and long hospital stays, to offering care and hope in some of their hardest moments—it's a field that has shaped me deeply.

My current role is looking after patients with pleural diseases (pleural effusion, empyema, pneumothorax) and involved in the diagnostic pathway of Lung cancer, tuberculosis and sarcoidosis by means of EBUS-FNA (Endobronchial ultrasound fine needle aspiration).  My direct care and empathy for our patients and their loved ones has greatly influenced my motivation to run for this cause.

That’s why I’ve chosen to run a half marathon for Asthma + Lung UK. Their work supports millions of people living with asthma, COPD, pulmonary fibrosis, and other lung conditions—people I care for every day. They fund vital research, provide resources for patients and families, and campaign for better lung health services across the UK.

Running a half marathon will be no small feat, but it’s nothing compared to the daily struggles many of my patients face just to catch their breath. With every mile I run, I’ll be thinking of them—and with every donation, you’ll be helping to ensure they’re not facing those challenges alone.

Please consider supporting me on this journey. Your donation will help fund life-changing research, education, and advocacy—pushing us closer to a world where everyone can breathe freely.

Thank you for helping me go the distance—for all the lungs that need us.
