We're fundraising to support everyone affected by lung conditions.
As most people know Sarah asthma, what most might not know is it is severe Eosinophilic asthma. This is a rare type of asthma that is caused by high levels of a certain type of white blood cells which lead to inflammation in the body. It is typically difficult to manage and doesn't respond to typical asthma treatments.Back in around 2020 Sarah began her asthma journey, which started after covid and pneumonia, and didnt she get an introduction too it. She initially began with a visit to the doctors as I was wheezing, by the time she drove there and walked to the docs she could barely breath. She popped Sarah on a neb and rang an ambulance, a really scary experience. Sarah then spent a week in hospital having recurrent attacks. Over the several months after that she had several blue light ambulances, resus visits, and hospital stays. For anyone who says you can't get an ambulance believe me when there's a question of you dying they rock up pretty quite. It took several years of this happening, and after years of tests, trialing different meds and consultant chats they finally diagnosed Sarah with Eosinophilic asthma. This led to me being eligible for a biologic treatment, an 8 week injection that reduces these white blood cells. Sarahs quality of life has changed dramatically, whilst I still have attacks which lead to steriods and time off work, she no longer have as many nor do she need an ambulance or to visit the hospital. In fact its changed that much she even joined the couch to 5k program with her good friend Lena and obviously they dragged Ian along lovingly. Well they've now done a 5k, and a 10k and the natural step was to begin training for a half and where better to do one than London. We were unsuccessful in the ballot which led to us all gaining charity places, Sarah didnt hesitate in knowing who she wanted to run for. Without the research she would never be on the treatment that she is and for that I'm incredibly grateful and wish to help give back, so please sponsor us and raise money for this amazing charity!
Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a lung condition. I want to make a difference. I'm running the London Landmarks 2027 for Asthma + Lung UK, the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.
Just £24 can support a researcher at the start of their career to carry out an hour of lung health research to ensure we attract and keep the best scientific minds to focus on lung disease.
