I’m running the London Marathon in the fight for breath

I'm Running the London Marathon for Asthma UK – Please Support Me!

This year, I’m taking on the London Marathon for the third time, running in support of Asthma UK, a cause that means the world to me.

Asthma has been a part of my life since childhood, and I know firsthand how scary it can be to struggle for breath. My dad suffers from COPD, and I’ve seen how devastating lung conditions can be—not just for those diagnosed, but for their loved ones too. That’s why I’m passionate about raising funds to help Asthma UK continue their vital work in research, treatment, and support.

Over the past two years, I’ve raised over £5,000 for this incredible charity, and now, I’m pushing myself even further by running another 26.2 miles through the streets of London. It won’t be easy, but knowing I’m making a difference will keep me going every step of the way.

If you can, please consider sponsoring me. Every donation—big or small—will help fund life-changing research and improve the lives of those living with asthma and COPD.

Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a lung condition. Asthma + Lung UK, is the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.

Just £22 allows one of Asthma + Lung UK's nurses to answer a call on the Helpline, offering potentially lifesaving adviceI'd be very grateful for any donations you could make!

Breathing Easy: My Journey with Asthma & Lung UK and the Forstair NEXThaler

Friday 14th Mar

As someone who has struggled with asthma for years, I know firsthand how challenging it can be to manage symptoms—especially during colder months. The tightening in my lungs, the difficulty in drawing breath, and the fear that each inhale won’t be enough became all too familiar. But thanks to the incredible work of Asthma & Lung UK and the tireless dedication of medical professionals, I have found a new lease on life through the development of innovative medications.

Like many others, I had been using a traditional spray inhaler for years. While it helped, it never quite provided the relief I needed, especially in harsher weather. I would often feel my chest tightening as soon as the temperature dropped, leaving me gasping for air. The frustration and discomfort were becoming a major hindrance to my daily life and, more importantly, my passion for running.

It was during one of my routine visits to my asthma nurse that things changed for the better. She recommended that I switch to a powder inhaler—the Forstair NEXThaler. I’ll admit, I was a little skeptical at first. Could a simple change in my inhaler make that much of a difference?

The answer was a resounding yes.

Within just a couple of weeks of using the Forstair NEXThaler, I noticed a remarkable improvement. My airways felt more open, my breathing became easier, and best of all, there was no pain. The difference was night and day, and for the first time in a long while, I felt like I was truly in control of my asthma. It was a reminder of how crucial medical research and advancements in treatment are for those of us living with lung conditions.

Now, just six weeks away from a major milestone, I’m feeling better than ever. Training for the London Marathon has been a dream of mine, and thanks to the support of Asthma & Lung UK, my medical team, and the advancements in asthma treatment, that dream is finally becoming a reality. On April 27th, I will be proudly running as part of the Asthma Team, not just for myself but for everyone who has struggled with their breathing.

The work that Asthma & Lung UK and associated medical organisations do is life-changing. They are giving people like me the ability to live, breathe, and achieve their goals without being held back by their condition. I am beyond grateful and hope that by sharing my story, I can inspire others to seek the support they need and continue pushing towards their own aspirations.

Here’s to breathing easy, running strong, and making a difference—one step at a time!
