I’m doing the Summer Steps Challenge!

I'm doing the Summer Steps Challenge because my Dad suffers COPD and Asthma + Lung UK is the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe - I want to contribute to their research in any way I can to stop the progression of this evil suffocating illness.  

Collectively as a group, #TeamBreathe wants this challenge to reach 7.5 million steps because we take (on average!) 7.5 million breaths in a year. 

Just £14 can fund an hour of lifesaving research. I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make! Thank you! ❤️

5000 steps minimum a day EVERY DAY between 25th July 2025 - 31st August 2025. So that's 38 days at 5000 steps a day, so in total 190,000 steps minimum! My target is higher than 190,000 because I've adjusted it to include the steps I did whilst experimenting with the Fitbit app - I didn't want to give myself a cheeky headstart before the challenge even begins!

🎉IMPORTANT DATES🎉

🎉16th August 2025🎉 - First steps target hit!  With 15 days left I added 5000 steps per day left to the target so 15x5000=75,000 extra steps added to target

🎉25th August 2025🎉 - Second steps target hit AND fundraising target of £100 hit! 🤑❤️ Six days left, so adding 5000 steps a day for the six days to the target: 6x5000=30,000 steps added

🎉29th August 2025🎉 - Steps target reached yet again for the THIRD time! Three days left! To keep things interesting, I'm going to up my daily steps target to 7000 steps and add three days worth of that onto my final target - so 3x7000=21,000 onto the final target! I won't be changing it beyond this target though as we are so close to the finish line 💪

🎉31st August 2025🎉 - the final day of this challenge! Not one, not two but THREE step targets smashed 💵AND💵 surpassed the £100 fundraising target - reaching the total £119.81 including gift aid. Thank you for coming on this journey with me, hopefully we're now one day closer to finding a cure for COPD! ♥️

Thank you for coming on this journey with me! I've managed to surpass not one, not two but THREE step targets AND you wonderful people have also helped me surpass the £100 fundraising target! Hopefully we're now one day closer to finding a cure for COPD! ❤️ It's 8.55pm but because I've surpassed the 7000 step target I'm going to disconnect my Fitbit. Thank you again ♥️ Fitbit number will be automatically uploaded at midnight

I've hit my steps target for the THIRD TIME! 🎉 With only 3 days left once we hit midnight and my Fitbit score uploads, I'm gonna set myself a 7000 steps a day target to keep it interesting; but if I hit that then I won't be changing it again so close to the finish line. Too tired to work it out tonight, I'll sort it tomorrow. Watch this space!

Two celebrations today! 🎉🎉🎉 Not only have I hit my step target for the SECOND time, together we've surpassed my £100 fundraising target!!! ❤️ Thank you thank you thank you!!! 🎉❤️🎉❤️🎉❤️ Hopefully one day we can stop COPD in it's tracks! But no time to rest on my laurels, I still have six days of this fundraiser left, so I'm adding 5000 steps for each day remaining (totals 30,000) to my current number to continue this challenge!

🎉🎉🎉HIT MY SECOND TARGET AS OF MIDNIGHT 🎉🎉🎉 Tomorrow I will update the target with however many steps are needed again (the remaining days multiplied by 5000), but I'm too tired to work it out tonight - it's been a work day and we've been out with our D&D buddies

I think after tomorrow I will have hit this new steps target! 🎉🎉 So I'll do the same as last time seeing as the challenge isn't over - I'll work out how many days are left and add 5000 steps per day to my target again. Can't believe from tomorrow there's only gonna be a week left of this fundraiser!

I'VE HIT MY STEPS GOAL!! 🎉🎉🎉 BUT the challenge is still on until 31st August and I haven't even reached halfway to my fundraiser target 😔 so today (I'm still counting this as 16th August cos it's only just turned midnight) I'm going to add another 5000 steps each day from now until the 31st. So 16th-31st is 15 days, and 15x5000=75,000. So I will add 75,000 steps onto my target, and will do the same equation again if I hit that target early again

I believe after midnight when my Fitbit uploads these steps to this fundraiser page then I will have hit my target! 🎉 BUT this fundraiser is officially meant to last until 31st August sooo tomorrow I'm going to work out how many days are left, then add 5000 steps to my target for each day. I'm not even halfway to my fundraising goal yet, I can't give up yet 😔

Sorry I had a hell of a journey back from Blackpool to Cornwall, then on my way back from the train station hubby and I came across an elderly man who had fallen over so spent some time helping him until his son picked him up. My train was delayed for over an hour - if it was on time we may never have found the poor man!

Another mellow day today. It's done my leg good cos I can walk without limping now, just haven't got full flexibility back. Spent today sewing patches on my jacket for the festival in a few days and watching reruns of Xena on telle 🤣

I didn't hit the 5000 target today 😔 rested my injured hip a lot today but did go see our D&D group today. Was conscious to try and get the steps in but failed today I'm sorry 😔 BUT in brighter news I'm still well on track to hit the total target because I've smashed the daily targets by a large margin - so rather than be disappointed with myself, I'm looking at this as an earned rest day for my hip muscle so I can continue this challenge in the long run. I'm sorry guys

Today was difficult 😔 I pulled a muscle in my hip almost 3 weeks ago swimming (was trying to release a knot in my thigh muscle) and it is getting better BUT my family and I visited the Lizard two days ago so I think I've aggravated it
