I’m running the London Marathon 2027 to fight for lung health!
I am running the 2027 TCS London marathon for Asthma and Lung UK because it is a charity close to my heart. Running 26.2 miles is a daunting challenge, but it is nothing compared to the struggle some people face everyday.
I would like to run specifically for the most important person in my life. My Mum. She battles COPD, a relentless condition that makes the simple act of breathing a constant struggle. Watching the people you love lose their independence to a lung condition is heartbreaking. You see them fight for the air most of us take for granted.
I am also running the marathon for my Grandad, who we tragically lost to COPD. I want to run these miles in his memory, carrying him with me. Every time my legs feel heavy or I feel out of breath, I will remind myself why I’m there, to honour his strength and to ensure other families don’t have to experience the same pain and can receive the support they need.
Outside of training, I am a primary school teacher. Everyday, I tell my students that they are capable of incredible things if they have the courage to try. I want to show them what it looks like to set a huge goal, work hard, and face a challenge head-on.
I want to prove to the children in my school that obstacles are there to be overcome and that we should always push ourselves to do something that scares us, especially when it’s for a cause that helps others.
Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a lung condition. I want to make a difference. I'm running the London Marathon 2027 for Asthma + Lung UK, the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.
Just £22 allows one of Asthma + Lung UK's nurses to answer a call on the Helpline, offering potentially lifesaving advice
