In my Nans memory

Thursday 10th Sep
I’ve chosen this charity because my Nan had COPD, and this is something that means a huge amount to me personally.

My Nan was diagnosed with COPD when
she was just 50. She lived with the disease for 30 years before sadly passing away recently at the age of 80.

It was heartbreaking to watch someone I loved so much become so limited by her illness. In her later years, even the simplest everyday things became a struggle. She was constantly out of breath, suffered with frequent chest infections and pneumonia, and eventually needed oxygen. Seeing her struggle to breathe and watching the impact it had on her life was incredibly difficult and it’s something ill never forget.

But when I think of my Nan, I want to remember the Nan who was always there for me.
Growing up, she was always there. She stood on the sidelines watching me play football in all weathers, was there for swimming club and never missed a school play. She was there for family bbqs, the best christmases and all the important moments in my life. No matter what was going on, she was always there supporting me, and I’ll be forever grateful for that. I miss her everyday, losing her has left a huge hole in my life, but I feel incredibly lucky to have had her as my Nan and to have so many amazing memories with her.

I’m raising money for this charity in her memory, with the hope that it can help other people living with lung disease.
If this money can make even a small difference to someone else’s life, then it would mean so much to me and would be a really special way to honour my Nan and everything she meant to me.

Thank you so much to anyone who donates, or supports me in anyway. It genuinely means a lot.
