I’m running the London Marathon 2027 to fight for lung health!
I come from a family affected by asthma, with me, my Dad and my eldest son, Joseph, all having it. Mine is probably the most well managed with inhalers, but does flare up when ill, or exposed to allergens, such as pets. My Dad has now got his under control (with strong inhalers), but struggled lots as a child, especially not helped by his caravan holidays in a gas-lit caravan with a dog - not the best for someone with Asthma! My son, Joseph is still getting to grips with it. In his 4 years, we've had more hospital trips than I can count, and every time he gets a bit of a cough, we are concerned it will escalate to a trip to hospital. We're thankfully well supported by his asthma plan (provided by the hospital on a Asthma & Lung UK template).Asthma and other lung conditions affect so many people, and it's one of many hidden conditions out there, and one that can go from being perfectly well managed to life threatening in minutes. The charity supports people manage the condition and also research into improving lung health, and I know the funds raised will go to support people including families like ours into managing and hopefully eradicating these conditions!
