My story

Breathing is something most of us never have to think about. But for millions of people living with asthma and lung conditions, every breath can be a challenge. That’s why I’m proud to be running the 2027 London Marathon for Asthma + Lung UK.

My dad has worked for the charity for many years, so I’ve grown up hearing about the incredible work they do to support people living with asthma and lung conditions. Seeing his passion for helping others has given me a real appreciation of the difference the charity makes every single day.

This cause is also very personal to me because my cousin, Emily, has lived with asthma her whole life. When I asked Emily what it’s like living with asthma, her response was simply, “10/10 would not recommend.” While it made me smile, it also highlighted the reality of living with asthma. She described it as feeling like someone is sitting on her chest, making it difficult to take a full breath, with symptoms often becoming much worse when the weather changes.

Although I don’t have asthma myself, I do experience anxiety and panic attacks, and I know how frightening it can feel when you struggle to catch your breath. While I know it’s not the same as living with asthma, it has given me a greater appreciation of the challenges many people face every day.

More than 5.4 million people in the UK receive treatment for asthma – that’s around 1 in 12 adults and 1 in 11 children. Many rely on medication and inhalers just to get through daily life

Because of the impact Asthma + Lung UK has had on my family, through both my dad’s many years working for the charity and Emily’s experience living with asthma, I’m proud to be using my place in the 2027 London Marathon to raise vital funds and awareness for this amazing charity.

Alongside the challenge of running the marathon, I’m also hoping to raise £2,500 for Asthma + Lung UK. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help the charity continue its incredible work.

Thank you so much for supporting me on this journey. Whether you donate, share my page, or simply cheer me on, it truly means the world. Together, we can help make a difference for people like Emily and the millions of others living with asthma and lung conditions every day.
