London Marathon 2027

I’m running the London Marathon 2027 so others can breathe easier

Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a lung condition.

I'm incredibly fortunate to have healthy lungs and the ability to take on this once in a lifetime challenge.

I've previously ran The Big Half marathon in 2024 and more recently the Hackney Half in 2026, and these accomplishments have really made me realise how lucky I am to be able the breathe easily - something unfortunately not everyone can say.

I want to make a difference. I’m running the London Marathon 2027 for the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe.

This cause is especially close to my heart as my boyfriend’s mum lives with COPD. Seeing the impact a lung condition can have on everyday life has made me want to do something meaningful to help support others affected too.

Along with running for Josie, I'll also be running for multiple close friend's family members who I've since learnt have suffered with COPD, and friends who suffer with asthma.

Running this marathon is more about than just running 26.2 miles, it's about using my healthy lungs on behalf of people who can't. Supporting research whilst taking on my hardest challenge yet, is what will motivate me during the process!

Just £24 can support a researcher at the start of their career to carry out an hour of lung health research, helping ensure we attract and keep the best scientific minds focused on lung disease.

I’m incredibly grateful for any donation possible, thank you so much!

A bit about me!

Thursday 21st May
For those who are new here, I'm Georgie, thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

I'm 27, will be 28 by the time of the 2027 London Marathon (30 is quickly creeping up on me!), originally from Essex, now living in North London with my boyfriend.

I used to live on the London Marathon route down in Greenwich with friends, and it was one of my favourite days of the year seeing all the incredible runners achieving something I could only dream of. Every year I wished it was me taking part but never believed I'd actually be able to do it - classic me doubting myself!

I started running in lockdown back home in Essex when gyms were closed and fell in love with it. After running regular 5ks, the distances slowly increased and so did my confidence! My close friend did The Big Half back in 2023, and that's when I signed up for my first proper 10k race, which led to me signing up for The Big Half in 2024.

Unfortunately, I got injured a few weeks out from it. I completed the race but knew I could do better. I took a break from running to heal my calf injury, then returned to running, most recently completing the Hackney Half in April this year, which went phenomenally well!

Running has helped me not only stay physically fit, but my mental health has significantly improved too - I consider running my ultimate self care routine (along with a face mask and a pint)!

Running a marathon is something I never thought I'd actually be able to do. I'd watch races and wish I was athletic enough to achieve something as extraordinary as running 42.2k. I'm not only doing this to raise money for a fantastic charity that will help those with lung and respiratory conditions, but to prove to myself that I can do hard things.

London Marathon is a once in a lifetime opportunity and a bucket list dream of mine, so I'm going to give it my all. I'm nervous, excited and determined to do this! Thank you again for visiting my page, reading this and for donating!
