I’m running the London Marathon 2027 for Mum and to fight for lung health!

In 2027, I’ll be running the London Marathon for Asthma + Lung UK in memory of my mum, Jean.

My mum died from COPD on 8 February 2022, just three days after her birthday. COPD is a cruel disease and over the final years of her life, I watched it slowly take more and more from her. Her breathing became harder, her world became smaller and for the last 18 months she relied on oxygen full time.

Despite everything, she never stopped fighting. Even when she was seriously ill, she would still say to me, “You know what Glenn, I’m going to beat this” often with a little glint in her eye.

Mum was kind, generous, funny and loved animals, gardening and nature. She had a difficult life, including being widowed at 56 with three teenage children, but she took everything on the chin and always found joy and laughter in the simple things.

Running the London Marathon has been a life goal of mine for years. I can’t think of a better reason to finally do it than in honour of my mum.

Every mile will be for her.

Any donation, big or small, will help Asthma + Lung UK support people living with lung conditions and families going through what we went through.
