I’m running the Rome AND London Marathon 2027 to fight for lung health!
Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a lung condition. I want to make a difference. I'm running the Rome and London Marathon 2027 for Asthma + Lung UK, the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.
I was born with severe bronchitis and spent much of my early childhood in hospital. It had a huge impact on my development growing up….people who know me know I can’t drink properly still. Bronchitis then developed into severe asthma which affected me throughout most of my younger life.
Thankfully, I’ve managed it much better in recent years, but I know it’s something I’ll likely continue battling as I get older.
There’s no way that little boy, standing in front of his school mates pumping away on his big plastic inhaler while other kids laughed, could ever have imagined running a marathon!
And now, I’m taking on TWO marathons just six weeks apart.
I’ve already run a marathon before, but if I’m honest, it broke me for weeks/months afterwards. So taking on two in such a short space of time feels like one of the biggest physical and mental challenges I’ve ever faced.
But I want to do it for something bigger than myself. After all the help, treatment, and support I was given growing up, I’d love the chance to give something back and hopefully help others going through similar battles.
Just £24 can support a researcher at the start of their career to carry out an hour of lung health research to ensure we attract and keep the best scientific minds to focus on lung disease.
