What's my why?

I’ll be running the London Marathon for Lung & Asthma UK, and it’s a challenge that means more to me than I can put into words.

When I was seven years old, I lost my mum after a severe COPD attack. Since then, lung disease has continued to affect my family, and alongside living with asthma myself, it’s a cause that has always been incredibly close to my heart. It’s something I’ve rarely spoken about publicly, but now feels like the right time to share why this marathon matters so much.

My mum  never wanted any fuss made about her, she was someone who always put others before herself and cared for every everyone. She would be the kindest soul you'd ever meet. She’d probably be telling me to stop talking about this and just get on with the training. Since losing her, everything I’ve achieved has been about making her proud, and running the London Marathon feels like one of the most meaningful ways I can honour her memory by raising money to support others in need, exactly how she would have done.

Over the coming months, I’ll be sharing my training and fundraising journey, with every penny raised supporting the incredible work of Asthma & Lung UK. Every donation, every share, and every word of encouragement will help make a difference to families affected by lung conditions.

Just £24 can support a researcher at the start of their career to carry out an hour of lung health research to ensure we attract and keep the best scientific minds to focus on lung disease.

Any support would be amazing in my fight for lung health! Thank you for being part of this journey with me.
