I’m running the London Marathon 2027 to fight for lung health!

In 2027, I’ll be taking on the challenge of running my very first London Marathon in support of Asthma + Lung UK.

This charity is incredibly close to my heart. Growing up, I witnessed my mum suffer with asthma and saw first-hand how frightening asthma attacks can be. Even now, as an adult, seeing someone struggle for every breath is a terrifying experience. I’ve also seen the impact of COPD on people close to me, a condition that can leave sufferers breathing through airways no wider than a straw. The impact these conditions have on daily life is life-changing.

As I approach qualification as a nurse, throughout my nurse training I have cared for patients living with asthma, COPD and other respiratory conditions. I’ve seen how devastating lung disease can be, not only for patients but also for their families. It has reinforced something many of us take for granted every day: breathing.

For most of us, breathing happens without a second thought. For millions of people living with asthma and lung conditions, every breath can be a challenge. In fact, every minute someone in the UK is diagnosed with a lung condition. This is why the work of Asthma + Lung UK is so important.

That’s why I’ve chosen to support Asthma + Lung UK and raise the £2,500 fundraising target needed to help fund vital research, improve treatments, provide support services, and raise awareness of respiratory conditions. The charity works tirelessly to support people living with lung conditions, fund life-changing research, campaign for cleaner air, and ensure that those affected receive the help they need.

Running 26.2 miles will be one of the biggest challenges I’ve ever undertaken. If I’m honest, it’s a scary prospect…this will be my first marathon! Between now and race day, I’ll be taking part in other races, building my fitness, and sharing my journey through a training journal so you can follow every step, success, setback and mile along the way.

Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference. Your support will help Asthma + Lung UK continue their incredible work and bring hope to those living with respiratory conditions.

Thank you for supporting me on this journey. Together, we can help ensure that more people can breathe a little easier.
