London Marathon 2027 - For Mandy 🤍

In 2027 I will be running the London Marathon in loving memory of my Nan who sadly passed away after a courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. 

Pulmonary Fibrosis is a devastating condition that causes scarring of the lungs making it increasingly difficult to breathe and carry out everyday activities. 

My Nan enjoyed a happy and care free life prior to her diagnosis. She was active, able and loved to live. She enjoyed frequent trips to Blackpool, days out with her siblings and caring for her great grandchildren.

Unfortunately due to a delay in diagnosis and a delay in investigations  that were necessary prior to commencing treatment my Nans’s condition worsened and treatment was no longer an option. Her health declined rapidly over a matter of weeks and she passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on the 19th August 2024. 

Watching someone you love go through this illness is heartbreaking and I want to help raise awareness and support for others affected by it. My Nan was strongest woman I have ever known and Im taking on this challenge to push myself to the limits like this disease did to her. 

Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a lung condition. I want to make a difference. I'm running the London Marathon 2027 for Asthma + Lung UK, the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.

Just £24 can support a researcher at the start of their career to carry out an hour of lung health research to ensure we attract and keep the best scientific minds to focus on lung disease.
