I’m running the London Marathon 2027 to fight for lung health!

Hello,
Thank you so much for visiting my page!
I will be running the London Marathon 2027 for ASTHMA +LUNG UK, all for one of the most important people in my life, my amazing twin sister Polly.
Every minute, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a lung condition. EVERY MINUTE, let that sink in!
Unfortunately back in 2023 my sister became one of them. When pregnant with her gorgeous second son, Charlie, Polly was found to have blood clots in her lungs. A relatively risk free pregnancy suddenly became incredibly high risk, for both Polly and Charlie. In the months that followed, we could only watch as Polly battled daily, with numerous daily injections, physio, pleurisy, broken ribs from coughing so much, and countless hospital appointments with both lung and pregnancy specialists! As her sister it was so hard to see her struggle and not be able to do anything about it.
The good news is Polly and Charlie made it through, and Charlie is without a doubt one of the happiest and cheekiest little boys you will ever meet, with the most infectious smile! (yes I’m biased). Sadly though, Polly still lives with the daily impact of the clots on her lungs, constantly relying on inhalers to make it through the day, coughing 24/7, with something as simple as a change in temperature sending her into a breathless coughing fit. While treatment is ongoing, research is crucial so the best scientific minds can focus on lung health and lung diseases and find solutions to them (just £24 can support a junior researcher carry out lung health research for an hour).
I can honestly say, I don’t think I ever realised how much I used to take having healthy lungs for granted, and I had no idea how much of a difference to your life it can make when they don’t!
So please, if you can spare anything, join me in trying to make a difference, because every sufferer, like Polly, deserves to have healthy lungs! And the sad news is that even whilst you have read this, another person will likely have been diagnosed with a lung condition, and be dealing with the harsh reality of what comes with that.
Please help, and thank you!
